In 1979, the European Blood Pressure Group was founded and the first meeting was held in Cambridge, UK. This was then followed by a number of annual meetings hosted in various locations across Europe. In 1996, the European Blood Pressure Group began the rebranding by conducting research meetings for both Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Disease combined. In 2004, the Society became known as the European Council for Cardiovascular Research (ECCR).
